This year we finally desided to give priority to some holidays than to our job and our children waited all winter for our trip as the top happening of their summer holidays from school.
We left a cloudy Stockholm with a temperature of some 16 degres Celcious early one morning just to land after 4 hours on a sunbathed and 34 degrees warm Rhodes!
It was so wonderful just to lie under an umbrella at the beach and do … NOTHING!!!
It is very unsuall for us not to have two cameras with and stroll upp and down the city where we are, visiting every museum, church and other worth seeing place, and taking thousands of photos. But this time we had made our decision; NO cameras and NO sight-seeing. Just doing nothing! (well, i have to admit; we did take a compact waterproof camera with us. And because of previous experience, that the best photo opportunities occur when we have no camera with us, i did take a Nikon DX2 with a 17-55/2,8 lens with us. Just in case!!!).
But both cameras stayed almost constantly in the bag and a couple of attempts to logg-in to facebook were given-up after a few seconds.
We spent our days either lying near the swimming pool of the really crowded Mitzis Faliraki Beach hotel or lying at a beach bed at the even mote crowded Lindos beach. In the evenings, enjoying the calmness of the countryside and at nights strolling around in small picturesque villages or enjoying the night life of our hotel.
When we came back from holidays, a few days ago, we asked our children what was the most memorable thing fron the vacation. They both answered without a second thought “our stay at Faliraki Beach Hotel”! Well, i can understand them. One spent the whole day up and down the swimming pool’s slide while the other, when not swimming, constantly on the queue for another pancake. The later one even suggested that we should move in there, and we would rather buy the hotel so that … we could live there free of charge!
